Georgia crews responded to 31 new wildfires Thursday as two major fires continue burning thousands of acres amid ongoing drought conditions statewide.

The Georgia Forestry Foundation is launching the Forest Wildfire Recovery Fund to provide direct, practical support to communities, forest landowners, and rural families impacted by wildfire and related disaster recovery needs.

A volunteer firefighter in Hilliard, Florida died battling a wildfire there while more than 120 homes have been destroyed in Southeast Georgia and thousands more remain threatened. Here’s a county-by-county update and the latest information you should know.

More than 27,000 acres of wildfires are intensifying across South Georgia, according to the Georgia Forestry Association, as most of the state experiences drought conditions.
