Struggling Flyers star Matvei Michkov might be heading for a healthy scratch in Game 5 after he did not have a spot in the team's top four lines during practice Sunday.
Michkov led the Flyers in scoring between the Olympics and the end of the regular season, but he's looked overmatched in the playoffs.
The Flyers are inserting left wing Alex Bump, who had been a healthy scratch for the first four games, into the lineup for Game 5 in Pittsburgh and sending Matvei Michkov to the bench.
At Sunday's practice at the Flyers Training Center in Voorhees, N.J., Michkov was observed to be taking line rushes with projected scratches Garrett Wilson and Carl Grundstrom, while rookie Alex Bump skated with Foerster and Cates.
But rookie forward Denver Barkey, 20, was called up from Lehigh Valley of the American Hockey League in December, and then in March they were joined by Alex Bump, 22, and Porter Martone, 19, who signed his three-year, entry-level contract March 29. The four have created a bond on and off the ice.
