Wednesday, humans could get closer to the moon than they have in over half a century following the launch of the Artemis II mission.

NASA’s Artemis II crew woke up on Day 3 of their mission reflecting on the historic moment as they became the first astronauts in more than 50 years to leave Earth’s orbit.

The four-member crew successfully completed a "translunar injection burn" on Thursday, sending them out of Earth's orbit and toward the moon.
