Hillsborough and Pinellas sheriff’s deputies recovered human remains Sunday afternoon in the water near Fourth Street North and the Howard Frankland Bridge in St. Petersburg.

Memphis authorities say they are investigating the discovery of remains of three children, believed to be between 3 and 7 years of age, that could have been there for years.

Following an investigation, the Burleson County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that human remains were found last Thursday in the Cade Lakes subdivision.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has officially identified the human remains discovered in a wooded area on Friday.

Sheriff’s Offices in Hillsborough and Pinellas counties have recovered human remains from waterways near Interstate 275 and 4th Street North, near the Howard Frankland Bridge, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.
