This map🗺️ of Leiden was created almost 450 years ago, right after the Spanish siege of 1574 was lifted. It tells the entire story of the siege and relief through visual storytelling, which is special in itself, but because it was printed only two months after the siege in Leiden itself, it is one of the only contemporaneous visual sources we have of this important part of Leiden's history.
