Many people with ARFID don’t respond to hunger the way others do. Hunger cues can be muted, confusing, or easy to ignore, especially when someone is focused, anxious, or regulating their environment. As a result, they often wait until the very last second to eat. By the time they recognize hunger and act on it, they’re already past the point of hunger and into full on starvation. That’s something we saw clearly with Hannah. When she said she was hungry, it usually meant she was already beyond hu
