Matthias Bluebaum achieved something very special at the FIDE Grand Swiss 2025. He scored 7.5/11 with 4 wins and 7 draws to finish runners-up. In those 4 wins he scored two very important wins over seeds 1 and 2 at the FIDE Grand Swiss - R.Praggnanandhaa and Arjun Erigaisi. With this second place finish Matthias qualifies to the FIDE Candidates 2026.
