The beautiful Toda embroidery, done by the women folk of Toda tribe of Nilgiris. The embroidery is done by hand, using woollen thread on cotton base fabric. Frames are not used, they do not have any design drawn on the base. The designs are formed free hand by counting the warp and weft threads. For this reason, this embroidery can only be done on a loose weave fabric. Toda Embroidery has been given the GI tag & is a protected handicraft.
