Our recruits took their Firefighter 1 training to the next level in week seven with a live burn of the Palmer’s Dollhouse. This small-scale model helps firefighters visualize how fire grows and behaves within a building. By controlling doors and windows, our instructors demonstrated the effects of ventilation on fire conditions and how changes in airflow cause backdrafts and smoke explosions. They also learned that smoke is fuel. Understanding that smoke can ignite under the right conditions hel
