“She’ll never read,” they boldly stated when she was 7-years-old. That incompetent assessment shaded the rest of her educational career. Nine and a half years passed before a teacher believed in her and was willing to start teaching Braille. Beginning the learning to read process at 16 is much different that learning at 7.
