The USS Enterprise (CV-6), nicknamed "The Big E," was a Yorktown-class aircraft carrier commissioned in 1938 and was the most decorated US warship of World War II, earning 20 battle stars. It was one of only three American carriers commissioned before the war to survive the conflict and participated in numerous key Pacific battles, including Midway, the Battle of Leyte Gulf, and the Iwo Jima invasion.
