There is a term in Labor Scholarship called “Trade Union Fetishism” that gets talked about very little. Do Unions have the capacity to better the lives of workers, no doubt, but the system is rigged against them, and historically they have been exclusionary towards non-white, and undocumented people, additionally, the Union as some sort of “achieved reality” makes it seem like if a union is not officially ratified by the state that there is no recourse for continuing to organize. @northcarolinas
