We should all be a little scared about where our kids are cognitively and when it comes to critically thinking. English meets math in today’s lesson. My students quickly realized that reading math symbols is also a form of literacy. We talked about square roots, pronunciation, symbols, and how learning to decode information goes far beyond just reading words on a page. This is why literacy matters in every subject.
