Oops. Was working to open up a Datolite vein when I accidentally smashed on a little cavern full of sharp Calcite? or Celestine crystals. I still need to do a couple tests to be sure, since they both occur in this area. Regardless of which, I hadn’t seen these elongated spiky crystals in association with the Datolite until this moment. Sure would like to get a couple of in tact specimens, but they are just barely hanging on, and some even seemed to be just floating in there. Idk if you noticed,

Northern California Datolite 🧊✨ I’ve only found a couple of healed floaters, and these are my favorites so far. Takes a lot of work (and careful planning) to reach deep into a thick vein where these can be found. Most of the time it just ends in frustration & heartbreak (and/or fractured fingers).. but every once in a while, I’ll expose a little crystal cavern with one of these stunners “floating” inside.
