The demolition of the historic Packard Plant on Detroit's east side enters a new phase on Monday as crews start to tear down the section of the plant at 5409 Concord Street. Built in 1903, the Packard Plant once spanned a total of 3.5 million square feet. It has been vacant since 2010, and emergency demolition on the plant was ordered in 2022.
