Gunalchéesh, Háw’aa to the kids from the Tlingit Culture, Language and Literacy dance group for performing at our Native American Heritage Month celebration. It was so wonderful to watch the children dressed in their regalia, singing in the Tlingit language. In this video, the kids are singing the Language Warrior's Chant. We’re also grateful to Wooshkindeinda.aat Lily Hope for reading her book “Celebration,” which tells the story of a young girl’s trip to Juneau for the biennial dance festival.

Gunalchéesh to the Lingít language speakers and teachers who came together in Juneau this week for the Living Languages gathering. In addition to hours in the classrooms, playing games and sharing stories, they also took the language to the water to sing traditional songs on a whale watching trip.
